Rivers State Governor Wike Accuses Governor Fubara of Arson Attack on State Assembly

Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesome Wike, has leveled allegations against Governor Sim Fubara, accusing him of orchestrating the arson attack on the State House of Assembly building.

Several weeks ago, a devastating arson attack occurred within the revered chambers of the state assembly, an act which has been vehemently condemned by the opposition party for desecrating the sanctity of the legislative institution.

The deep-seated discord among members of the Rivers State House of Assembly has culminated in certain lawmakers initiating impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara.

Edison Ehie, Leader of the State House of Assembly, reportedly rebuffed the impeachment move against the Governor, citing the absence of any impeachable offence. Consequently, he was consequently ousted from his position as the majority Leader.

Nevertheless, Edison has now assumed the esteemed role of Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. This transition comes amidst Governor Fubara’s vigorous efforts to assert his dominion over state affairs.

Addressing Governor Fubara, Wike lamented, “When they were moving to impeach you, did you seek my intervention by informing me about the imminent impeachment? Is that the reason behind orchestrating the sordid act of setting the hallowed chambers ablaze? Is the impeachment process to be concluded within a single day? Furthermore, you chose to interlace the proceedings with ethnic politics, a strife unprecedented in our history…”
