In a compelling call to action, Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has urged Nigerians to join forces in putting a halt to corruption, social injustice, deprivation, and discord within the nation.
Delivering this impassioned plea in Abuja during a visit from the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) at the Commission’s headquarters, Olukoyede emphasized that the prevailing crises and discord are, for the most part, the destructive outcomes of corruption, injustice, and deeply rooted deprivation. He resonated the belief that for any system to function effectively, there must be a steadfast commitment to upholding equity and fairness.
“Corruption is the bedrock of injustice. We must bridge the gap responsible for this injustice. Social discord is also a consequence of injustice. It is imperative for us to unite and eradicate the injustice stemming from corruption, as what benefits one, should benefit all,” Olukoyede remarked.
The EFCC chief urged the PCC leadership to redouble their efforts to garner widespread support from Nigerians. Furthermore, he sought to formalize the collaboration between EFCC and PCC through a Memorandum of Understanding, aiming to bolster the existing partnership between the two commissions.
