The Kano State police command has issued a stern warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) regarding their planned rally in the state.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hussaini Gumel, emphasized the command’s efforts in maintaining law and order, stating that vigorous patrols have been initiated in and around the city. Additionally, armed security personnel have been deployed to key locations to swiftly respond to any potential security breaches.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone conversation on Friday, Gumel stressed, “As far as this command is concerned, we have not permitted the two major political parties to engage in any form of protest in our areas of supervision.”
He urged the public to carry on with their lawful activities without fear of intimidation, assuring that the police and other security agencies are collaborating to guarantee the safety of lives and property in the state.
Furthermore, Gumel called upon the leaders of the APC and NNPP to uphold the peace accords they have previously affirmed.
Notably, he appealed to parents to closely monitor their children’s movements, cautioning that individuals found instigating disturbances will be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
