The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, held a meeting with four governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Iperu, Ogun State. The governors in attendance were Babajide Sanwo Olu of Lagos, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Abdulrasak AbdulRahaman of Kwara, and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun. During the meeting, Shettima called for a more unified Nigeria, emphasizing the strength that lies in the country’s multicultural diversity.

The meeting took place at the 37th annual Akesan Day held at the Christ Apostlic Grammar School in Iperu Remo, the hometown of Governor Dapo Abiodun. Shettima highlighted the administration’s recognition of the significant role of traditional institutions in navigating the complexities of Nigeria’s diversity. He assured that activities promoting the rich cultural heritage of all tribes in the country would be prioritized.

Shettima reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to effecting positive transformation in the lives of Nigerians, emphasizing the relentless pursuit of this goal. He also acknowledged the unifying role of festivals like the Akesan Day and commended Ogun state for its celebration of enduring cultural heritage and values that foster unity and development.

Governor Abiodun, speaking at the event, pledged to build on the achievements of his administration to improve the lives of the state’s residents. He described this year’s Akesan Day celebration as a double celebration for him, following his victory in the re-election case at the Appeal Court in Lagos the preceding day.

Other dignitaries present at the event included Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents Ogun West, and the National leader of the APC, Olusegun Osoba.
