Basketmouth Explains Why AY Won’t Be Performing at His Lagos Concert

Renowned Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, known as Basketmouth, has extended an invitation to his erstwhile rival and fellow comedian, AY Makun, to attend his much-anticipated concert in Lagos this Sunday.

This gracious gesture comes on the heels of Basketmouth publicly expressing regret for past disagreements with AY, effectively bringing an end to their 17-year-old feud.

However, in a recent interview with Arise TV, Basketmouth clarified that although AY has been invited to the event at the prestigious Eko Hotel & Suites, he will not be gracing the stage for a performance or cameo appearance.

Setting the record straight, Basketmouth stated, “AY is not scheduled to perform at the event, but he will be in attendance. I sent him his ticket a few days ago.”

Addressing the speculation surrounding AY’s participation, Basketmouth explained, “I understand that many have been curious about whether AY will be performing. The truth is, he is not part of the lineup.”

Revealing further details about the show’s lineup, Basketmouth shared, “In actual fact, the comedy lineup is quite concise. Bovi will be the master of ceremonies. Other acts include Senator, Dan The Humorous, and Aproko from Abuja. Additionally, we have a few talents joining us from Ghana.”

Elaborating on the logistical constraints preventing AY from making a cameo appearance, Basketmouth emphasized, “AY cannot make a surprise appearance because the show is meticulously scripted. We are recording for television, so it’s a meticulously planned three-hour extravaganza. The production crew, including the directors, have arrived in the country just a few days ago.”

He further elucidated, “Before their arrival, every aspect of the show had already been meticulously orchestrated. It’s not the kind of event where spontaneity can be accommodated. The entire production is meticulously timed and choreographed to perfection.”
