The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA II, Major General Hassan Taiwo Dada, has pledged support to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in training and retraining its officers to bolster operational efficiency.

Maj. Gen. Dada made this commitment during a courtesy visit by Solomon Iyamu, the Assistant Commandant General (ACG) responsible for Zone K Awka, covering Anambra and Enugu States, to the 82 Division Nigerian Army headquarters in Enugu.

In a statement issued by DSC Edwin Okadigbo, NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Gen. Dada expressed his delight at the visit and emphasized the importance of such engagements in fostering mutually beneficial collaboration between the two agencies.

“I want to thank you for checking up on us. I have listened to your request for training and retraining, and I assure you that we will address your needs to enhance your operational capacity. This collaboration will greatly contribute to inter-agency synergy between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,” reiterated Gen. Dada.

Furthermore, the GOC urged ACG Iyamu to ensure that the message of synergy filters down to his subordinates to promote collaboration over competition within the security sector, with the aim of proactively addressing criminal activities.

In response, ACG Solomon Iyamu pledged the NSCDC’s commitment to collaborating with the Army to maintain peace and security within its jurisdiction, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in safeguarding lives, property, and national assets belonging to various tiers of government.

“It is my pleasure to be in your Division to introduce myself and to solicit for your support as partners in progress. Security issues require a collective effort from all security agencies. NSCDC and the Nigerian Army have a history of a good working relationship, and I am here to cement and expand this collaboration, particularly in areas of information sharing, training, and other mutual interests,” stated ACG Iyamu.

As the collaboration between the Nigerian Army and NSCDC strengthens, it signifies a pivotal step towards enhancing the security landscape in Nigeria, fostering inter-agency cooperation, and ultimately safeguarding the nation’s peace and stability.
