President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria is scheduled to preside over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting today, Monday, 27th November 2023, at the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja.
During the cabinet meeting, President Tinubu will administer the oath of office to the eight newly appointed permanent secretaries who have been approved to serve in the Federal Civil Service.
The meeting will also see the participation of Vice President Kashim Shettima and other ministers who were absent during the last FEC meeting held on 23rd October 2023, as they were in the United States.
Commencing at 12 p.m, the Monday cabinet meeting will be chaired by President Tinubu and will be attended by key officials such as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and other cabinet members.
During the previous Council meeting presided over by President Tinubu, the Federal Executive Council approved a draft policy for Nigeria’s Solid Mineral sector, which encompasses operations, guidelines, regulatory framework, and sourcing dynamics of the sector.
Furthermore, the Council gave the nod for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a German Mining Technology Company, GEO SCAN, to explore Nigeria’s estimated $700 billion worth of mineral resources underground.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Nigeria constitutes the highest advisory body to the President and is tasked with formulating policies, providing advice on governance matters, and overseeing the implementation of government initiatives.
