Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has called for the assistance of the federal government in the establishment of a cargo terminal and the completion of the International Wing of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport.
Mbah made this plea while addressing journalists at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday. He emphasized the collaborative efforts between the State Government and the Federal Government to ensure the realization of the cargo terminal and the international wing of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu.
Highlighting the state’s investment-friendly environment, the governor asserted Enugu’s status as a secure destination for potential investors.
In addition, Mbah lauded the economic policies of the administration, particularly commending the favourable environment for foreign direct investment (FDI) attributed to the harmonized foreign exchange rates. He expressed optimism about the positive impact of these initiatives on Enugu’s FDI drive.
However, the governor acknowledged the immediate challenges posed by certain economic measures of the Federal Government, such as the removal of fuel subsidies, describing them as bold but difficult “therapies” for the nation’s economy.
“I commend the president because many of the initiatives at the national level are also significantly advantageous to us at the state level,” Mbah stated. “Policies like the unification of the foreign exchange rate indicate an influx of FDI and stand to benefit our state as well.”
