The Adamawa State Executive Council has given the nod for the reconstruction of a 44km road, commencing from the permanent orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Damare, contiguous to the state capital, Yola, and extending to Borong, a pivotal community in the Demsa local government area.
Meandering through two Local Government Areas, namely Girei and Demsa, the feeder road is slated for redevelopment at the cost of N836 million.
Addressing journalists after the session of the State Executive Council held on Wednesday at the Government House, Yola, Dr. Umar Pella, the State Commissioner of Education, disclosed these developments.
Pella emphasized that the awarded project, entrusted to Hydro Source and Resource Nigeria Limited, is on a timeline for completion within the forthcoming 12 months.
Under the chairmanship of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the Wednesday’s SEC gathering also sanctioned an amount exceeding N117 million as a variation contract for the construction of a contemporary laboratory at the Specialist Hospital, Yola.
Initially awarded for an excess of N578 million, Pella clarified that the variation encompasses the surge in the cost of construction materials.
