Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria Gets New Leadership

Samuel Okocha, Abuja.

The Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria (BON), the umbrella body of all broadcast media outfits in the country, has inaugurated a new leadership.

The Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, and the Chief Executive Officer of Daar Communications Plc, Chief Tony Akiotu, were on Wednesday, November 29, both inaugurated as chairman and vice-chairman, respectively, of BON.

It would be recalled that on 12 October 2023, they were elected at BON’s 78th General Assembly in Abuja.

Mr Dembos succeeds Mr John Ugbe, the Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, who led BON for two years.

In his speech, Mr Dembos thanked members of BON for the trust reposed in him, promising to build on his predecessor’s achievements.

He said he would work with all stakeholders to advance the interests of the broadcasting industry in Nigeria and ensure that BON remains a credible and influential voice in the media landscape.

He also praised Mr Ugbe for his exemplary leadership and contributions to BON, adding that he would continue to seek his advice.
