Equities Market Rebounds by 0.34%

The Nigerian Exchange Limited, NGX reverted to the positive trajectory at the close of the third trading session for the week, as the benchmark index grew by 0.34%.

At the close of trading activities on Wednesday, the market capitalisation gained ₦133bn to close at ₦39.008trn when compared to Tuesday’s ₦38,875trn.

Similarly, the All-Share Index advanced by 0.34% or 242.29 basis points to close at 71,283.34 basis points from 71,041.05 basis points.

Investors on the floor of the Exchange traded 360.601 million units of shares worth ₦6.611 billion in 6,579 deals where GUARANTY TRUST HOLDING COMPANY PLC was the most traded stock by volume and value at 56.91m units traded worth ₦2.19bn.

Renewed investor interests in SEPLAT ENERGY PLC, NESTLE NIGERIA PLC and TRANSNATIONAL CORPORATION PLC pushed the broader index into positive terrain.

Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 39.09%, while the Month-to-Date (MTD) rose +3.0%.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed the value of transactions went up by 17.64% while the total volume traded declined by 32.6%.

Market breadth closed negative with 40 declining issues outnumbering 21 advancing ones.

SEPLAT ENERGY PLC grew from ₦2,100.10k per share to ₦2,310.10k per share, by ₦210.00 or 10.00 percent. Followed by MEYER PLC with a growth from ₦3.27k per share to ₦3.59k per share, gaining 0.32k or 9.79 percent. And SUNU ASSURANCES NIGERIA PLC rose from ₦1.36k per share to ₦1.49k per share by 0.13k or 9.56 percent.

On the flip side, GUINEA INSURANCE PLC declined from 0.30k per share to 0.27k per share, losing -0.03k or -10.00%. OMATEK VENTURES PLC trailed with a drop from 0.81k per share to 0.73k per share, losing -0.08k or -9.88%. And ABBEY MORTGAGE BANK PLC fell from ₦1.86k per share to ₦1.68k per share, by -0.18k or -9.68%.

Analysing by sectors, the Oil & Gas (+6.1%), Insurance (+1.2%), and Consumer Goods (+0.9%) indices posted gains, while the Industrial Goods index closed flat. The Banking (-0.6%) index was the sole loser of the day.
