The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has restated the unwavering commitment of Nigerian Army troops to decisively address the security challenges experienced in parts of Benue and its neighboring states.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, conveyed the COAS’s affirmation during his courtesy visit to Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State at the Government House in Markudi.

Lagbaja expressed appreciation to the Governor, government, and people of Benue for fostering a cordial relationship with the Nigerian Army. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts in enhancing security measures.

In response, Governor Alia acknowledged the troops’ efforts and sacrifices in upholding peace in the state. He affirmed his administration’s continued support to bolster the operational effectiveness of the troops in safeguarding lives and property.

In a related development, the COAS embarked on a working visit to the 4 Special Forces Command of the Nigerian Army in Doma, Nasarawa State.

During his interaction with the troops in Doma, the Army Chief lauded their resilience and selflessness in serving the nation. He encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in carrying out their mandated responsibilities.

Furthermore, while inspecting the facilities at the Nigerian Army Barracks in Doma, the COAS assured the troops of the Federal Government and the Army High Command’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and providing combat enablers. These measures are intended to optimize their performance in fulfilling their duties.

This reaffirmation of commitment by the COAS to tackle security challenges in Benue and neighboring states reflects the ongoing concerted efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the populace.
