Nigerian sensation, Rema, has made the difficult decision to put a halt to all his scheduled performances for the month of December, focusing instead on his health and well-being.
The young afrobeats icon revealed this postponement through a heartfelt message shared on his Instagram story, expressing, “Breaks my heart to say that I won’t be performing anywhere this December. I have been touring and I’ve ignored my health and I need time to recuperate. 2024 we go again. ❤️.”
In response to the announcement, fellow afrobeats star Davido took to his Instagram story, acknowledging the demanding nature of the music industry, both physically and mentally, and sending words of encouragement to Rema, urging him to prioritize his recovery.
Rema, revered for his global hit “Calm Down,” which has shattered numerous streaming and chart records, recently captivated audiences with a sensational performance at the illustrious 20,000-seater O2 Arena in London.
The now-cancelled tour dates were set to take place in Abuja, Benin, Lagos, and he was also slated to headline the Hey Neighbour Festival in South Africa on December 9th.
The question of whether fans who have already purchased tickets will receive refunds or have the option to carry them over to the rescheduled 2024 dates remains unanswered at this time.
