Reps to Allocate 2024 Budget Based on 2023 Funds Utilization

The House of Representatives has announced that only Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) that effectively utilized their allocations in 2023 will be considered for funds from the 2024 budget.

Deputy spokesperson of the House, Philip Agbase, emphasized that this decision aligns with the legislative agenda of the 10th House of Representatives.

Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, Agbase affirmed that the scrutiny of the 2024 Appropriation Bill will be thorough, assuring Nigerians of diligent oversight by the House.

He cited Speaker Abbas Tajudeen’s resolute commitment to Nigeria during the 2024 budget presentation, highlighting the administration’s determination not to falter in its responsibility to citizens.

Agbase commended the speaker’s proactive approach to governance, particularly in his engagement with the executive and management of the 2024 Appropriation Bill.

He emphasized that the Speaker’s unwavering dedication to citizens’ well-being has garnered immense support from colleagues and the Nigerian populace at large.

Agbase noted the contrast from previous budget deliberations, citing the current seamless process compared to past inter-chamber disagreements, expressing satisfaction with the current harmonious approach.
