Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has charged troops of the 401 Special Forces Brigade Makurdi, Benue, with being disciplined and professional while carrying out their constitutional tasks.

Lagbaja gave the charge on Thursday during an operational visit to Benue as part of his working tour of Nigerian Army formations and units around the country.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

Nwachukwu stated that the duty tour will allow the COAS to review troop battle preparedness to revive ongoing operations and successfully reduce security concerns in the country.

Lagbaja thanked the troops for their efforts and devotion to the nation when speaking to them.

He asked them to continue doing their utmost to safeguard the country’s peace and stability.

The COAS utilised his visit to officially open a 7.5-kilometer road built by Nigerian Army engineers in the Joe Akahan Military Cantonment to strengthen barracks infrastructure.

He urged the barracks community to treasure and preserve the road, adding that the army would work to offer more infrastructure and social amenities to help soldiers and their families.
