Gunmen kill 7 people in Plateau community

At least seven people have been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Pukah village of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

A local source, John Mark, told DAILY NIGERIAN that the attackers stormed the community in the earlier hours of Thursday, while people were asleep.

“The attackers came in and were shooting sporadically, which resulted in the killing of six males and one female.

“We were sleeping at midnight, when we heard gunshots, some of us ran into hiding. In the morning, we discovered seven people were killed.

“After attacking our community, the gunmen also attacked an adjoining Pinper community.

“At Pinper community, several livestock – close to 1,000 sheep and others – were rustled by the gunmen,” Mr Mark said.

While confirming the attacks, the spokesman of the Operations Safe Haven in the state, Captain Oya James, said four persons were confirmed dead.

“We have report of four persons being killed, but the timely intervention of the of troops of Operations Safe Haven, to the area had really prevented the number of the casualty, own personnel are on ground to restore law and other,” Mr James said.
