The Yobe State Government has issued a stern warning to all the executive secretaries of agencies and 17 education secretaries of Local Education Authorities (LEA) under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. The warning, delivered by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, took place at the state Education Council meeting with stakeholders in Damaturu, the state capital.

Dr. Idris emphasized the state’s zero-tolerance for laxity and impunity in the execution of their assigned duties. He expressed that the people of the state expect nothing less than the officials’ utmost dedication, urging them to harness their experience and energy to drive progress in the education sector.

The Commissioner stressed the need for education stakeholders to exert themselves, embrace patriotism, demonstrate selfless commitment, ensure fairness and justice, and avoid negligence and irresponsibility in fulfilling their public duties.

He highlighted the commitment of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration to address the challenge of out-of-school children and to improve educational outcomes, growth, and development in the state.

Furthermore, Dr. Idris assured the education secretaries that the state government would create an enabling environment for them to operate optimally. However, he emphasized that the state would only accept tangible results and urged the officials to rise to the occasion.

In light of these directives, it is imperative for the officials to heed the warning and uphold professionalism and dedication in the discharge of their duties. The state government’s resolve to prioritize educational development and address pertinent issues such as the out-of-school children conveys the significance of this warning.

The onus is now on the officials to exhibit unwavering commitment and diligence in driving positive change in the education sector. The state looks forward to witnessing the tangible impact of these efforts in enhancing the quality of education and securing a better future for the children of Yobe.
