Nigerian Military Achieves Major Success in Anti-Terror Operations

The Nigerian military has recorded significant victories in its recent anti-terror operations, resulting in the demise of over 180 terrorists, the apprehension of 204 others, and the rescue of 234 kidnapped victims within a week. These operations, which spanned land and air interdictions across different theatres of operation, showcased the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to combating insurgency.

According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, the troops made remarkable recoveries during these operations. They seized 46 assorted weapons, 148 assorted ammunition, and a plethora of other items including vehicles, mobile phones, and a substantial amount of currency.

In the North East region, the troops of Operation Hadin Kai achieved significant milestones, neutralizing 19 terrorists, arresting 52, and rescuing 134 kidnapped victims. Additionally, the troops apprehended suspected ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists in Chibok Local Government Area and conducted successful fighting patrols in various local government areas in Borno. They also conducted operations in Yobe, resulting in the arrest of kidnappers and illegal miners.

One of the most remarkable events during this period was the surrender of 91 terrorists, comprising of adult males, adult females, and children, to the troops. This voluntary surrender marks a potential shift in the fight against insurgency, highlighting the effectiveness of the military’s operations.

In the air component of Operations Hadin Kai, significant air interdictions were conducted, leading to the neutralization of over 130 terrorists. The impact of these interdictions illustrates the military’s pivotal role in quelling terrorist activities in the region.

Moving to the North Central, troops of Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke executed successful land and air offensives, neutralizing terrorists and destroying their enclaves in Niger, Benue, Plateau, and Taraba States. These operations culminated in the rescue of kidnapped hostages and the arrest of multiple terrorists.

In the North West, the troops of Operations Hadarin Daji and Whirl Punch undertook extensive land and air offensives, resulting in the elimination of numerous terrorists across Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara States. The air component also carried out air interdictions, significantly impacting the terrorist enclaves in the region.

Overall, the recent achievements of the Nigerian military are a testament to their unwavering dedication to combating insurgency and securing the nation. These successes not only highlight the military’s operational efficiency but also signify a substantial blow to terrorist activities across different regions of Nigeria.
