The Defenc Headquarters has announced that the Armed Forces of Nigeria have carried out operations resulting in the deaths of over 180 terrorists, the arrest of 204 others, and the rescue of 234 kidnapped victims within the past week. The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, revealed that these operations involved both ground and air interventions across multiple theatres of operation.
Maj.-Gen. Buba disclosed that the troops also seized 46 assorted weapons, 148 assorted ammunition, 34 vehicles, 64 mobile phones, 47 motorcycles, and ₦1.5 million, among other items. These captured items included a variety of firearms, ammunition, and communication devices confiscated from the terrorists.
In the North East region, the troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralised 19 terrorists, arrested 52, and rescued 134 kidnapped victims. They also recovered firearms, ammunition, vehicles, mobile phones, and motorcycles during these operations in Borno and Yobe States.
Additionally, a total of 91 terrorists, including men, women, and children, surrendered to the troops between November 22 and November 28. The air component of Operations Hadin Kai conducted air interdictions, resulting in the neutralisation of over 130 gathered terrorists in Borno.
In the North Central region, the troops of Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke executed successful land and air offensives in Niger, Benue, Plateau, and Taraba States, resulting in the neutralisation of several terrorists and the destruction of their enclaves.
Furthermore, in the North West region, the troops of Operations Hadarin Daji and Whirl Punch executed land and air offensives in Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara States, eliminating several terrorists and destroying their enclaves.
