Nigerian Armed Forces Neutralize Over 180 Terrorists and Rescue 234 Kidnapped Victims

The Defence Headquarters has reported a significant achievement in the ongoing operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, detailing the neutralization of more than 180 terrorists, the apprehension of 204 others, and the successful rescue of 234 kidnapped victims within the span of one week. Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed that these operations encompassed both land and air interdictions across various theatres of operation.

Apart from the aforementioned successes, the troops also seized a substantial cache of arms and ammunition. This included a diverse array of weapons such as AK47 rifles, pistols, hand grenades, and ammunition, as well as the recovery of multiple vehicles, mobile phones, motorcycles, and a significant sum of money.

In the North East region, the troops of Operation Hadin Kai achieved remarkable progress, neutralizing 19 terrorists, apprehending 52 others, and rescuing 134 kidnapped victims. A significant number of arms and ammunition were also recovered in this operation, along with vehicles, mobile phones, and motorcycles. The troops also conducted targeted operations in various local government areas, resulting in the arrest of suspected terrorists and the disruption of criminal activities.

The operations extended to the North Central region where the troops of Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke carried out successful land and air offensives, leading to the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of their enclaves in multiple states. Notably, air interdictions at terrorist enclaves yielded substantial successes, with the elimination of key terrorists and the destruction of their infrastructure.

In the North West, the troops of Operations Hadarin Daji and Whirl Punch conducted extensive land and air offensives, resulting in the elimination of numerous terrorists across various states. The air component’s precision targeting at bandits’ enclaves led to the neutralization of several terrorists, further degrading their capabilities.

The comprehensive report also highlighted the successes of troops in land operations and the arrest of criminals involved in gunrunning and other illicit activities, demonstrating the multidimensional approach adopted in combating insecurity.

The Defence Headquarters’ report underscores the commitment and effectiveness of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in addressing the security challenges across the country, ultimately contributing to the restoration of peace and stability in the affected regions.
