In a demonstration of unwavering commitment to combating terrorism, the Armed Forces of Nigeria carried out a series of highly successful operations over the last week. Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed the impressive outcomes, including the neutralization of over 180 terrorists, the arrest of 204 individuals involved in nefarious activities, and the liberation of 234 kidnapped victims.
The operations, encompassing both land and air interdictions, were executed with precision across multiple theatres of operation. The bravery and proficiency of the Nigerian troops were evident as they reclaimed 46 assorted weapons and 148 ammunition caches, creating a significant dent in the arsenal of the adversaries. The captured armaments included 30 AK47 rifles, two Josef Magnum pump action guns, as well as various other firearms and explosives.
In the North East region, the troops of Operation Hadin Kai achieved remarkable success. They neutralized 19 terrorists, apprehended 52 individuals, and gallantly rescued 134 hostages from the clutches of terror. Additionally, the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and the apprehension of suspects in various local government areas signify a resounding victory for the relentless pursuit of peace and security.
The air component of Operations Hadin Kai conducted strategic air interdictions, dealing substantial blows to the enemy’s capabilities. The resounding success of these operations was evident as the terrorists’ gatherings were neutralized, leaving little possibility of survivors among the wounded.
The North Central region bore witness to the decisive actions of the troops of Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke. Through well-coordinated land and air offensives, terrorist enclaves in Niger, Benue, Plateau, and Taraba States were dismantled. Notably, the air interdiction at the terrorist kingpin Ali Kawaje’s enclave in Dagam resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of their structures, significantly crippling their operations.
The North West region also experienced the full force of Nigerian military operations. Operations Hadarin Daji and Whirl Punch conducted relentless land and air offensives, eliminating numerous terrorists in Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara States. The air interdiction in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara resulted in the neutralization of a significant number of bandits, further underscoring the military’s determination to dismantle threats to peace and security.
Amidst these resounding victories, the surrender of 91 terrorists, including men, women, and children, to the Nigerian troops stands as a testament to the effectiveness of the military’s operations and the potential for reintegration and rehabilitation.
Furthermore, the comprehensive nature of the operations is evident in the successful arrests of gunrunners and criminals, and the rescue of hostages in diverse locations.
