Former Super Eagles Star Julius Aghahowa Urges Team to Prepare for Grueling Battle to Conquer AFCON 2023

Renowned former Super Eagles forward, Julius Aghahowa, has issued a stern warning to the Nigerian national team, urging them to gear up for an arduous challenge at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Managed by Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles are set to contend with 23 other nations at the biennial tournament.

As a formidable force in African football, the three-time continental champions find themselves placed in Group A alongside hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau. Aghahowa is resolute in his belief that with the right approach, the Super Eagles can mount a serious challenge for the coveted title.

In an exclusive interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Aghahowa emphasized the demanding nature of competing in Africa, stating, “Our players need to have it at the back of their minds that it will be difficult to match and be well prepared. Once they sort that out, the rest will be history.”

The accomplished former player expressed unwavering faith in the potential of the current Super Eagles squad, asserting, “The players can do it, and I believe in them, but that commitment and resilience that the game is a must-win should be added to their mentality.”

The Super Eagles are slated to kick off their AFCON 2023 campaign against Equatorial Guinea at the Alhassan Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe on January 14. Subsequently, they are set to lock horns with Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau on January 18 and January 22, respectively.

As the Super Eagles brace themselves for this footballing extravaganza, Aghahowa’s insights serve as a poignant reminder of the challenges that lie ahead. With his astute observations, Aghahowa ignites a beacon of encouragement, urging the team to fortify their resolve and approach the tournament with unwavering determination.
