The Gombe State Police Command recently made waves after the arrest and subsequent parade of 17 suspects for a range of offenses, including kidnapping, armed robbery, theft, and possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
At the parade in Gombe, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer, spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hayatu Usman. According to ASP Abubakar, seven suspects were apprehended at the market square in Kalaring and Baganje in Kaltungo LGA. The charges against them included criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and possession of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. These suspects were nabbed during a police raid on a criminal hideout, and a myriad of items were seized, including military camouflage, drug tablets, and various weapons.
Furthermore, two individuals, Muhammadu Garba and Ibrahim Adamu, were implicated in the kidnapping of one Musa Abdullahi. Despite the payment of a ransom, the victim was not released. However, through thorough investigation, the police uncovered crucial information linked to the suspects’ involvement in the crime.
Another noteworthy arrest involved 25-year-old Kabiru Musa, who allegedly snatched a commercial motorcycle from Ismail Muhammad at the Gombe City Gate. Despite the suspect’s attempt to flee, the swift response of the Operation Hattara team led to his capture. Subsequently, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further review.
Additionally, a case of theft and impersonation saw the recovery of a stolen motorcycle after a joint effort between the Gombe State Police Command and their counterparts in Taraba State.
