Patrice Evra Casts Doubt on Rashford and Martial’s Return to Man Utd Starting XI

Former Manchester United stalwart, Patrice Evra, has cast doubt on the prospects of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial reclaiming spots in the team’s starting lineup. The duo found themselves sidelined during the Premier League victory over Chelsea, prompting Evra to express skepticism about their return to the forefront.

Man United’s gaffer, Erik ten Hag, opted to relegate Rashford and Martial to the bench for the clash against Chelsea. Their lackluster performances against Newcastle had drawn widespread criticism from pundits and former players, leading to Rasmus Hojlund and Antony seizing the opportunity to join Alejandro Garnacho in the starting lineup for the match against the Blues. Scott McTominay emerged as the hero, netting twice to secure a 2-1 win for the Red Devils.

Speaking on Amazon Prime, Evra remarked, “He [Ten Hag] put the right players on the pitch, and United fans won’t understand if that same team doesn’t play the next game. I will understand if it’s due to injury, but I think it will be tough for Marcus and Martial to come back into the starting XI.”

Evra continued, “Garnacho had an amazing game, Antony had an amazing game, and the work ethic—you can have nothing negative to say about those players. So I hope this team will stay as it is, and it is going to be tough for Marcus and Martial. They will have to fight to reclaim their places because the kids played very well today.”

The comments from the former left-back serve as a stark assessment of the challenge awaiting Rashford and Martial as they strive to regain their positions within the formidable Manchester United lineup.
