Addressing the quarterly general meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara echoed his unwavering commitment to protecting and advancing the collective inheritance of Rivers State. The governor’s stance comes amidst a political face-off with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, who accused Fubara of neglecting the state’s political structure that facilitated his rise to power.

The tensions between the two leaders escalated to the point of an impeachment move against Governor Fubara, which was ultimately averted following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu.
