Celestial Church Pastor Embraces Secular Artists to Spread the Word

The leader of a thriving Celestial Church of Christ congregation in Lagos, Aderemi Dabiri, has shed light on his decision to welcome famed fuji maestro Pasuma and rising Afrobeats sensation Portable for a special praise night.

Resonating across social media, the church’s choice of inviting these secular artists sparked both interest and controversy. However, in a viral video addressing the reactions, Dabiri articulated that his intention was to reach out to new souls.

“In our quest to spread the word, we have previously invited guest artists without any issues. It’s like venturing into a palm wine bar and demanding a conversion to Christianity. Without wisdom, we might face backlash. Hence, I pondered on a way to bridge that gap,” he expressed.

Expressing his disillusionment with some gospel musicians for their discourteous demeanor, Dabiri contrasted this with the respect shown by Pasuma. “Some gospel singers exhibit rudeness. Certain responses are disrespectful. Yet, when I reached out to Pasuma, his tone exuded respect, aligning with my vision,” he recounted.

While seeking support from the global Celestial Church community, Dabiri vowed to uphold his unique evangelistic style, aiming to uplift the church’s reputation.
