The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Chris Musa, has assured the public that the Nigerian military will take decisive measures to prevent a repeat of the recent tragedy in Tudun Biri community, Igabi Local Government, Kaduna State. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, resulted in numerous casualties and injuries following a misfire from Nigerian military drones.

Speaking at the 25th anniversary of the Emir of Jama’a in Kafanchan, Gen. Chris Musa expressed deep regret over the unfortunate incident and offered prayers for the souls of the deceased. He emphasized that a thorough investigation into the tragedy is underway, with the findings to be made public in due course. Reiterating the military’s commitment to safeguarding the nation, Gen. Musa called for the support and cooperation of all Nigerians in their peacekeeping endeavors.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria are dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of the nation. We are resolute in our determination to restore peace, particularly in Kaduna and across the entirety of Nigeria. The Nigerian people can trust us to carry out our responsibilities with dedication, transparency, and fairness,” Gen. Musa affirmed.

In a similar vein, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, urged the pursuit of justice for the victims of the tragedy to forestall any recurrence. During the anniversary event in Kafanchan, the spiritual leader stressed the need to refrain from speculation and called for patience pending the government’s official investigation report.

“It is paramount to ensure justice prevails to prevent a reoccurrence of this tragic event. We appeal to the administration to conduct a comprehensive investigation to uncover the truth, providing solace to the affected individuals. Let’s refrain from baseless conjecture and await the findings of the investigation before making conclusions,” Sultan Abubakar emphasized.

The Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji Isah Muhammadu, also marked the occasion by expressing gratitude for his 25-year reign, acknowledging its challenges and blessings. He extended appreciation to the Emirate’s populace for their unwavering support and vowed to prioritize their welfare above all else. Furthermore, he pledged continued collaboration with local, state, and federal authorities in delivering democratic dividends to the people.

The commemorative event in Kafanchan, which witnessed the presence of dignitaries including the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Bamali, former Governor Ahmed Makarfi, and Senator Danjuma La’ah, served as a platform for dialogue on overcoming the country’s multifaceted challenges.
