TCN Energises New 60MVA Transformer to Empower Sagamu and Beyond
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful energization of the new T3 1×60 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) 132/33 Kilo Volt (kV) power transformer at its Shagamu 1 Transmission Substation. This development, disclosed by Ms. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, marks a momentous advancement in bolstering the power infrastructure in the region.
The Shagamu 1 Transmission Substation, already a powerhouse with a 96 Mega Watts (MW) 132/33kV transmission capacity, has now augmented its capabilities to wheel 144MW following the integration of the newly energized T3 1X60MVA transformer. The direct beneficiaries of this pioneering initiative are the customers of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) in Sagamu, Ogijo, Remo, and Ikenne.
Ms. Mbah also highlighted other recent accomplishments in the region, including the construction of a state-of-the-art control room and the successful installation and energization of a T4 1X60MVA 132/33kV power transformer at the Sagamu 132/33kV Transmission Substation in June. Additionally, the recent installation and energization of a T1 1X60MVA 132/33kV power transformer at the new Oluewu 132/33kV Substation in Oyo State further underscore TCN’s commitment to enhancing the power transmission network.
The surge in transformer capacity not only signifies a commendable feat for TCN but also translates to an ample power supply for IBEDC to distribute to its customers in Sagamu and its environs – a significant stride towards meeting the burgeoning energy needs of the region.
These remarkable advancements firmly position TCN as a key player in fortifying Nigeria’s power infrastructure, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic development of the nation. This notable achievement serves as a testament to TCN’s unwavering dedication to delivering reliable and efficient power transmission services, setting the stage for a brighter, more electrified future for Sagamu and beyond.
