Sunshine Stars’ head coach, Edith Agoye, expressed gratitude despite the team’s 1-0 loss to Bendel Insurance on Sunday. Agoye acknowledged the challenging nature of their opponents and revealed that their initial goal for the game was to secure a draw.
Amidst the setback, Agoye took a moment to commend the Edo State Government for their unwavering support following the harrowing armed robbery attack the team experienced on their way to the matchday 12 clash against Bendel Insurance. In a post-match interview, he expressed heartfelt appreciation, stating, “We want to appreciate the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, and his Deputy Philip Shaibu for all they have done for us since the attack.”
Agoye continued, “The Governor sent his people to come and see us and he promised to offset our medical bills. The deputy Governor also came to see us and gave us relief too. We are grateful. They made us feel at home.”
Despite the defeat, Sunshine Stars currently occupy the 11th position on the table, showcasing resilience amidst adversity.
