The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaiama Ward 1, Kaiama Local Government, Kwara South Senatorial District, has taken the decisive step of expelling its suspended Youth Leader, Prince Haliru Mahmud Dantsoho, from the party.

In a letter dated 11th December 2023, signed by the Ward Chairman, Mohammed Nurudeen, and 16 out of 17 executive ward members, it was stated that Dantsoho’s expulsion was due to gross misconduct. This misconduct stemmed from his dissemination of unsubstantiated allegations against the party’s leadership through videos shared on social media.

The letter, titled ‘Expulsion From The Peoples Democratic Party As a Result of Your Act of Gross Misconduct Arising From Your Video Releases of 7th Day of December, 2023,’ explicitly highlighted the reasons for his expulsion. It reminded Dantsoho of the two videos he released on 7th December 2023, wherein he made serious unsubstantiated allegations of forgery against the party’s leadership at the state and national levels.

Consequently, a query was issued to Dantsoho regarding his conduct and statements in the videos, which were deemed to violate the provisions of the PDP constitution. Despite this, Dantsoho failed to appear before the Disciplinary Committee to defend himself, leading to the committee finding him guilty of serious misconduct as per the PDP Constitution.

As a result, Dantsoho was officially expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party, Kaiama Ward 1, effective from the 11th day of December 2023, per Section 59 (i) (g) of the PDP constitution. This expulsion stripped him of all rights and privileges associated with his membership and position within the party.

In response to his expulsion, Dantsoho claimed that he had already resigned from the party prior to the expulsion. “I had already sent my resignation letter from the party this morning before the expulsion was made,” he declared.

This development marks a significant turn of events within the PDP in Kwara South Senatorial District, prompting discussions about the repercussions of internal party disputes and the impact of social media on political discourse. It also serves as a reminder of the complex dynamics at play within Nigerian political organizations, shedding light on the intricacies of party discipline and governance.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the expulsion of Haliru Dantsoho underscores the challenges and tensions inherent in the quest for transparency, accountability, and discipline within political parties. The ripple effects of this expulsion are expected to reverberate through both local and national political spheres, shaping the narrative of party politics in Kwara and beyond.
