Nigerian Troops Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims in Kaduna

In a remarkable display of heroism, the troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army have successfully liberated nine individuals who were kidnapped in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. In addition to this valiant rescue, the troops also seized weapons during this daring operation. The hostages, who had been held captive since December 8th, were ultimately freed as a result of the swift and decisive actions of the Nigerian Army.

Lt-Col Musa Yahaya, the Division’s acting deputy director of Public Relations, disclosed that the troops, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, sprang into action upon receiving reports of the abduction of 11 civilians from Anguwan Maharba and Dandami villages. The joint forces swiftly mobilized, setting up an ambush at the bandits’ crossing point. Their strategic positioning bore fruit as they engaged the bandits, forcing them to retreat in disarray with gunshot wounds. In this courageous feat, the troops successfully rescued nine captives, albeit arriving too late to save two individuals who tragically succumbed to the bandits’ brutality prior to their intervention.

Moreover, the operation yielded the recovery of an AK47 rifle and magazine, as well as a locally made gun from the bandits. In the aftermath of this victorious mission, Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding the Division and Force Commander of operation WHIRL Media Talk Africa, lauded the troops for their unwavering determination and gallantry. Encouraging them to remain steadfast in their commitment to upholding peace and safeguarding the citizens within the Division’s area of responsibility, Maj.-Gen. Okoro urged all conscientious citizens to furnish the troops and other security agencies with credible intelligence to combat insecurity in the region.

This resolute and successful rescue operation stands as a testament to the Nigerian Army’s dedication to safeguarding the lives and well-being of the nation’s populace. It serves as a beacon of hope and resilience, reaffirming the unwavering commitment to peace and security in the face of adversity.
