The Kogi State Chapter of the Action Alliance (AA) has made it clear that it is not in support of its governorship candidate, Olayinka Brahimoh, who recently filed a lawsuit to contest the victory of the governor-elect, Alhaji Usman Ododo, in the state’s November 11 governorship poll.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olu Omotoso, it was revealed that this decision was reached during an emergency National Executive Committee meeting.
According to the statement, the party’s national chairman, Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, unequivocally clarified the party’s stance, emphasizing that the AA is not inclined to pursue legal action against the governor-elect. Omoaje further explained that Brahimoh had operated without consulting the party after emerging as the candidate.
Expressing dissatisfaction with Brahimoh’s unilateral actions, Omoaje stated, “From the moment INEC published the final list of candidates for the Kogi governorship election, Olayinka Brahimoh, our adopted candidate for that election, deliberately distanced himself from the party, making it difficult to engage with him. We made several attempts to engage with Brahimoh, but he refused to collaborate with the party’s leadership.”
Omoaje also narrated an incident involving the Deputy National Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Isa, who was left unaided and without communication during his team’s stay in Kogi State.
Consequently, Omoaje made it unequivocally clear that the party, the Action Alliance, has absolutely no involvement in the matter before the Kogi State Governorship Election Tribunal. He emphasized, “We are not interested in the matter at all.”
The aforementioned developments underscore the disassociation of the Action Alliance from the legal challenge initiated by its governorship candidate, reaffirming the party’s nonparticipation and lack of interest in the ongoing legal dispute.
