The Kaduna State para-soccer team embraced triumph on Tuesday as they emerged victorious with a 4-2 win against their Plateau counterparts, claiming the prestigious third position in the thrilling para-soccer category of the ongoing Para-Sports Games in Abuja. The exhilarating match unfolded amidst the grandeur of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, marking the culmination of the riveting games that commenced on December 9 and culminated today, December 12.
The initial moments of the game witnessed an unexpected turn of events as an own goal by Abdulrahman Yunusa of Kaduna in the third minute propelled the Plateau team into an early lead. However, the audacious spirit of the Kaduna side manifested in the 14th minute when Yau’ Ibrahim’s breathtaking strike restored equilibrium with an equalizer. Just moments later, Ibrahim’s prowess graced the field once again, seizing the opportunity to net the second goal, propelling Kaduna into a 2-1 lead. As the first half drew to a close, the electrifying performance of Ibrahim illuminated the stadium, as he skillfully secured a third goal in the 43rd minute, culminating in a 3-1 lead at halftime.
The commencement of the second half heralded a staunch resurgence from the tenacious Plateau team, with Abubakar Aliyu fiercely driving home a goal from a close range in the 59th minute, reducing the deficit. Despite this resurgence, the unwavering dominance of the Kaduna team prevailed throughout the second half, culminating in a moment of sheer magic when Ibrahim, showcasing his exceptional skill, delivered the fourth goal in the 77th minute through an impeccable free kick.
