Bayelsa United Suspends Kit Sponsorship Deal, Jerseys on Hold

Bayelsa United has taken an unprecedented decision to suspend the use of branded jerseys for their league matches, citing unresolved issues between their sponsors and the state government. The team, known as the Prosperity Boys, made this announcement in a statement submitted to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The statement highlighted that Bayelsa United will refrain from showcasing their branded jerseys until a resolution is reached between the club’s sponsors, Halkin Exploration and Production Limited, and the state government. This development comes on the heels of the former Federation Cup champions unveiling a new kit adorned with their sponsor’s name over the past weekend.

Despite the off-field turmoil, Bayelsa United is gearing up to face Rivers United in a rescheduled matchday 12 fixture at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Thursday. The Yenagoa-based outfit recently snapped a six-game winless streak, marking a triumphant return to winning ways. However, the team’s on-field success juxtaposes their current standing at the bottom of the NPFL table.

It’s a challenging period for Bayelsa United, as they navigate through not only the trials on the field but also the tribulations off it. As the club grapples with this predicament, their fans and the football community keenly observe the unfolding saga, eagerly anticipating a resolution that will allow the team to sport their beloved jerseys once more.
