On a momentous Wednesday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled a bold vision for the future, presenting the esteemed Lagos State House of Assembly with a groundbreaking budget estimate of N2.2 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year of 2024.

Themed ‘Budget of Renewal’, this comprehensive financial plan encompasses a recurrent expenditure of N1.02 trillion, constituting 45% of the total budget, and a formidable N1.22 trillion allocated to capital expenditure, representing 55% of the budget. It is meticulously crafted to address the multifaceted needs of Lagosians amidst prevailing economic challenges, including the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

Guided by the administration’s T.H.E.M.E.+ Agenda, Governor Sanwo-Olu underlined the budget’s alignment with the strategic trajectory set forth since the inception of his government in 2019. Reflecting on the performance of the 2023 budget, Governor Sanwo-Olu proudly declared a noteworthy 78% implementation as of the third quarter, projecting an ambitious 98% implementation by year-end.
