Naira Marley Accuses Iyabo Ojo of Defamation, Demands N500 Million for Allegations Against Mohbad

Nigerian music sensation and Marlian Music leader, Naira Marley, has raised serious allegations against renowned actress Iyabo Ojo, claiming that she spread false and defamatory statements about him on the internet.
Backing Naira Marley’s stance, his legal representative, Olalekan Ojo, penned a letter to the actress, citing her September 2023 Instagram post as the source of the allegations. The said post implied that Naira Marley was involved in both spiritual and physical dealings with the late singer, Mohbad. Furthermore, the actress purportedly accused Naira Marley of inflicting mental anguish upon the deceased artist.
In response, Naira Marley’s legal counsel has demanded a whopping N500 million in damages from Iyabo Ojo, along with a public apology to be issued on her social media page and published in a national newspaper.
The letter stipulates that failure to meet these conditions would result in Naira Marley pursuing legal action against Iyabo Ojo.

This move by Naira Marley has sparked widespread interest and drawn attention to the issue, with the public eagerly awaiting Iyabo Ojo’s response and the potential ramifications of the legal entanglement.

The rift between these two prominent figures has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s entertainment industry, prompting discussions about the power and perils of social media communication and the impact of public statements on the lives of public figures. It also sheds light on the need for responsible expression in the digital age, emphasizing the potential repercussions of unverified claims and their far-reaching effects.
As developments unfold, one can’t help but wonder about the implications of this dispute, not only for the involved parties but also for the broader landscape of social media interactions and free speech within the Nigerian context.
