The Chairman of the Rivers State Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha, has extended an open invitation to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, hailing him as the political luminary of Nigeria. Okocha emphasized Wike’s pervasive political sway within Rivers State and beyond.

Speaking at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, Okocha called for Wike to defect to the APC and contribute to reshaping the state’s political landscape. He further alleged that the Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, orchestrated the demolition of the state House of Assembly complex to obstruct the convening of the majority of 27 members.

In a bold statement, Okocha expressed, “I have personally courted him, and we have publicly implored him to join our ranks and assist us. He is a political titan not only in Rivers but across Nigeria. His influence was pivotal in our success in the presidential election, despite setbacks in the three senatorial seats and the State House of Assembly members. Wike is the architect of Politics, not confined to Rivers but resonating across Nigeria. We cannot confine his impact.”

Okocha’s call for Wike to cross party lines underscores the intensifying power struggle within Rivers State’s political arena, signaling a pivotal moment in the state’s political trajectory. The appeal to Wike, a figure of substantial influence, is indicative of the high-stakes dynamics at play and the far-reaching ripple effects.

The overt overture from the APC aims to sway a key political figure, potentially reshaping the political landscape in Rivers State. This bold move is emblematic of the escalating tussle for power, positioning Wike as a coveted asset in the incessant political jockeying within Nigeria’s intricate political tapestry.
