Boma Goodhead, the lawmaker representing Akuku/Asari Toru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has joined other protesters in challenging the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to return to Rivers State.
The protesters, including Goodhead, called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and restrain the former Governor of Rivers State from further actions in the state. They vowed not to stand idly by while the FCT Minister exerts influence over Rivers State.
During the protest, Goodhead issued a warning to Wike, cautioning him against setting foot in the state where he served as governor for eight years. The protesters also urged Wike to control his supporters and prevent any disturbances.
“I want to send a clear message to the Federal Government of Nigeria,” Goodhead asserted. “Tinubu believes that Wike delivered Rivers State to him, but even Wike failed in his own unit. He failed in his ward and even in his Local Government Area.”
“We are here to tell Ahmed Bola Tinubu to call Wike to order because the next time he comes into Rivers State to disturb the peace of the state, we will not remain passive observers.”
“Wike should come to Rivers State, and we will show him the true meaning of holding Rivers State. We dare you to return to Rivers State again if you have the courage,” Goodhead challenged.
In their bold stance, Goodhead and the protesters have raised significant concerns about the political dynamics in Rivers State, pledging to uphold the state’s peace and sovereignty in the face of mounting tensions.
This impassioned call to action exemplifies the fervent dedication of these protesters to safeguard the integrity and autonomy of Rivers State, transcending political affiliations and asserting their commitment to maintaining order within the region.
