PSG Manager, Enrique Asserts Authority Over Mbappe: “I’m the One Who Gives Orders”

Luis Enrique, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain, has squarely informed Kylian Mbappe that he holds the ultimate responsibility for dictating the team’s decisions and strategies.

Mbappe expressed frustration despite PSG’s successful qualification for the Champions League Round of 16 earlier in the week. This dissatisfaction stemmed from Enrique’s directive to the team to refrain from taking unnecessary risks, a decision influenced by AC Milan leading 2-1 against Newcastle United in another group fixture.

Acknowledging Mbappe’s discontent, Enrique emphasized, “I’m the one who gives orders to the team.” He defended his pivotal instruction, deeming it as one of the most significant decisions in his career. “Telling my players, ‘Milan are winning 2-1 at Newcastle in the 88th minute, no need to take risks,’ was crucial,” he added.

Enrique further elaborated, “We have to try to score, of course, but if you look, we only ventured into Dortmund’s area around two or three times. It was obviously a weighty decision, but it wasn’t solely mine; it was also influenced by my staff, even though I have the final say,” he conveyed to RMC.

The key takeaway from this encounter highlights the authoritative stance of the PSG manager, setting a compelling narrative framing the power dynamics within the team’s decision-making processes.
