A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Sani Muhammad Takori, has warned that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike will face frustration and humiliation if he defects to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Takori, who represented Bukkuyum/Gummi federal constituency in Zamfara State, advised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, to think twice before making any move to the APC. Speaking to journalists in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, Takori highlighted the challenges faced by the APC’s national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, suggesting that similar frustrations await Wike if he joins the party.
With the recent defection of 27 Rivers State lawmakers, who are reportedly loyal to Wike, there are strong indications that the governor might also defect to the APC. However, Takori cautioned that Wike would eventually regret such a decision. He further expressed that if the 27 State lawmakers reject godfatherism, Wike will be left isolated.
Takori lamented the political tension created by Wike in Rivers State and warned of the potential consequences of his defection. While acknowledging the APC’s efforts to court Wike and even offer him a leadership position in the party, Takori emphasized that joining the APC would bring Wike more trouble than glory.
The APC chieftain painted a grim picture for Wike in the APC, suggesting that he would encounter individuals with diverse and challenging personalities. He advised Wike to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and avoid the pitfalls that might await him in the APC.
