Former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Tim Sherwood, didn’t mince words as he publicly criticized Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag for his treatment of players, igniting a fiery debate in the football world.
Sherwood slammed Ten Hag for dropping Red Devils’ stars Kobbie Mainoo and Hannibal Mejbri, and for attempting to offload Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire. The seasoned manager expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that Ten Hag should be making better use of the talent at his disposal.
Expressing his discontent on Sky Sports, Sherwood remarked, “I’m not sure the players know what the process is. I’m sure he [Ten Hag] does. He needs to get a performance out of his side because at the moment there’s no style of play. There is no improving of any individuals.”
Sherwood didn’t hold back, pointing out the lack of opportunities given to promising young talents Mainoo and Mejbri. He passionately highlighted the injustice faced by these players, questioning the decision-making process.
Moreover, Sherwood drew attention to the unexpected rise of Scott McTominay and Maguire, who, despite being earmarked for departure, displayed resilience and commitment on the field.
In a powerful statement encapsulating the essence of his frustration, Sherwood asserted, “When you lose to Bournemouth at home, it’s unacceptable no matter what team you put out.”
With a resounding call for action, Sherwood urged Ten Hag to divert his focus from public statements about injuries and instead channel his energy into honing the team’s performance on the training ground.
Sherwood’s critique has sparked an intense discussion about the management of Manchester United, igniting a call for accountability and a renewed sense of purpose within the club.
