The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unequivocally stated that it has no intentions of compromising the highly anticipated Supreme Court judgment regarding the Kano gubernatorial election.
In a statement released on Sunday, Kano APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas dismissed claims made by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), asserting that the party has been disseminating unfounded rumors to its unsuspecting members in anticipation of the Supreme Court judgment.
The rumors alleged that the NNPP had purportedly engaged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter, favoring the party’s candidate to remain governor and subsequently defect to the APC.
Abbas rebuffed these claims, emphasizing, “There is no foundation to the alleged meeting with either Mr. President or any party leader.” He further highlighted that President Bola Tinubu upholds democratic principles and the rule of law and would not partake in any scheme to subvert justice or support individuals who have attained leadership through electoral malpractices.
Additionally, Abbas emphasized that the APC, as a party, is unaware of any such arrangement and is diligently focused on pursuing its case at the Supreme Court to a judicious conclusion.
The chairman expressed unwavering confidence in the party’s prospects of emerging victorious at the apex court. This assurance is bolstered by the compelling and irrefutable evidence presented at both the tribunal and the Appeal Court, which ultimately led to the party’s triumph.
As the Supreme Court prepares to adjudicate on this consequential matter, the APC’s resolute stance serves as a testament to its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring electoral integrity.
By steadfastly pursuing legal avenues and presenting concrete evidence, the APC reaffirms its dedication to the democratic process and respect for due legal processes. The impending Supreme Court judgment holds the promise of a resolution that reflects the genuine will of the people of Kano, upholding the sanctity of the electoral process and reinforcing Nigeria’s democratic principles.
