Nigerian artist and instrumentalist, Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, has appealed to his former record label boss, Kcee, to ensure the fair distribution of royalties for their collaborative work spanning over seven years.
The duo’s discord dates back to 2016, marked by a public fallout and subsequent involvement of law enforcement. Since then, Harrysong has consciously distanced himself from Kcee and their former record label.
In an earnest plea posted on his social media page, Harrysong implored his fans to rally behind him in urging Kcee to fulfill his obligations. He revealed, “For more than 7 years now, he’s been the one collecting 100% of my royalties from all my big songs, Reggea blues, Baba for the girls, Samankwe, Better Pikin, and Ofeshe. It’s not fair.”
Expressing a heartfelt appeal, he continued, “At least, he can take his percentage and give me what is rightfully mine. Na beg I dey beg am… He should at least be fair to give me what is rightfully mine.”
Harrysong, known for his emotive lyrics and soul-stirring melodies, concluded with a poignant invocation, “May God not let us work, and another man just be reaping our hard-earned sweat in Jesus’ name.”
With this impassioned plea, Harrysong lays bare his plight, appealing for justice and equitable treatment in what is rightfully his.
