Ethiopia’s Ambitious Plan to Boost Exports to China

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia— Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, met with a delegation led by members of the Ethio-China Friendship and Cooperation Committee in a bid to bolster trade relations with China.

During their meeting, the state minister underscored the enduring ties between Ethiopia and China, culminating in the decision to elevate their collaboration from a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation to an All-weather Strategic Partnership. Emphasizing the significance of nurturing these relations, especially in trade and investment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted Ethiopia’s commitment to amplifying the export of agricultural and manufacturing products to the Chinese market.

Mrs. Xu Junjun, Chairperson of the Ethiopia-China Friendship and Cooperation Committee, lauded the strong bilateral relations and conveyed the delegation’s intent to enhance economic and business cooperation between the two nations. The 22-member delegation, representing 10 Chinese companies, is dedicated to advancing Ethiopian livestock and agricultural products in the Chinese market. This concerted effort signals a pivotal step towards expanding Ethiopia’s economic footprint and cultivating mutually beneficial trade opportunities with China.
