In a surprising turn of events, Nigerian singer Iyanya has disclosed the return of one of colleague Mayorkun’s stolen necklaces, which had gone missing during a visit to Calabar, Cross River State. The incident had prompted Mayorkun to declare his refusal to perform in Calabar in the future, following the reported theft of his pricey jewelry during an event in the city.
Iyanya, taking to his X handle, publicized the welcome news on a Tuesday afternoon. Alongside a photo showcasing one of the necklaces bearing the inscription ‘The Mayor Of Lagos,’ Iyanya expressed gratitude to the individual who brought it back to The Grand Hotel Calabar. He remarked, “Just returned now is 1 of 2 of @Mayorkun jewelry. We have one more to go. My brothers if you have the second one please help us return it.”
Not stopping there, Iyanya also made a commitment to offer a $500 reward to the person who returns the second necklace, distinguished by the inscription ‘Of Lagos.’ “Money is at The Grand Hotel Calabar,” he affirmed in another post, emphasizing the sincerity of his pledge.
This unexpected development marks a positive twist in the saga of Mayorkun’s stolen jewelry, infusing hope into the quest to retrieve the remaining necklace. With Iyanya’s announcement resounding across social media platforms, the spotlight now pivots towards the possibility of the second necklace rejoining its rightful owner, hence ensuring a sense of closure to this compelling tale.
