The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received a compelling proposal from the think tank of the Amalgamated APC Support Groups (AASG). The think tank, during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, suggested the establishment of a caretaker committee comprising representatives from various party support groups.

Dr. A.K. Peters, the convener of the think tank, emphasized the importance of ensuring equitable representation by proposing that members of the caretaker committee should be drawn from the six geopolitical zones. The recommended duration for this committee’s mandate is not more than 90 days. Within this period, the committee is expected to facilitate the creation of a Constitution Drafting Committee, entrusted with the crucial task of crafting a ‘Peoples Constitution’ for AASG within 45 days.

Furthermore, Peters advocated for the swift formation of an electoral committee by the caretaker committee. This electoral committee’s primary responsibility would be to conduct a transparent and credible election within 28 days, ultimately culminating in the inauguration of new leadership for AASG.

The genesis of the AASG’s think tank can be traced back to the dissolution of parallel leaderships on November 16, 2023, prompting stakeholders to take proactive measures in reshaping the organization’s structure and functionality.

In a bold call to action, Peters urged President Bola Tinubu to consider appointing leaders from the support groups into his administration, underscoring their capabilities in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.

This proactive proposal from the AASG think tank serves as a testament to the organization’s commitment to operational excellence and inclusivity, reflecting the party’s receptiveness to innovative measures that foster cohesion and progress.
