Notorious Carjacker Abba Kala Rearrested after Escape from Katsina Prison

The Nigeria Correctional Services, NCoS, in Katsina has successfully recaptured two inmates who had escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Katsina back in October. Among them is Ibrahim Muhammad-Lawal, also known as Abba Kala, a notorious figure standing trial for multiple robbery and car-snatching operations across Katsina, Plateau, and neighboring states.

Abba Kala, a fugitive, managed to use his phone while in detention to orchestrate a successful car-snatching operation. The first arrest occurred shortly after their escape, and the second fugitive, Musa Isah, was apprehended on Tuesday in Kaduna.

The spokesperson of the Katsina Command, ASC Najib Idris, confirmed the rearrest of the two suspects on Wednesday. Emphasizing the collaborative efforts involved, including sister security agencies, he detailed that a search party and the deployment of an e-tracking mechanism and overt and covert intelligence contributed to the successful recapture.

The Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa, expressed appreciation for the search team’s diligent work in re-apprehending the fugitives. He also declared a commitment to strengthening the security of all custodial centers across the country.

This recent feat serves as a testament to the relentless efforts and cooperation among law enforcement agencies in Nigeria. The successful recapture of these escapees reaffirms the determination to uphold the rule of law and ensure the safety and security of communities.
