Enemi George, a prominent member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has unequivocally stated that he will not rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), his former political affiliation. Instead, he and 26 others who moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC) are dedicated to bolstering President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, George emphasized their commitment to the APC and voiced their unwavering support for President Tinubu’s agenda. “We have crossed the Rubicon. We have moved to the APC. We voted for the President, if we find Mr. President worthy of our votes then I think we should find him worthy of our support,” he declared. George further expressed their determination to collaborate with President Tinubu to realize the expectations of Nigerians.
The backdrop of this political maneuvering is the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, stemming from the discord between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. This schism has resulted in a fragmentation of the state’s lawmakers, with 27 of them defecting from the PDP to the ruling APC. This shift indicates a significant realignment in the state’s political landscape, with potential ramifications for its governance and future trajectory.
