Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has emphasized the critical need for peace amidst the ongoing dispute over the Oyo/Osun boundary, calling for a peaceful resolution to the contention.

During a meeting with officials from the National Boundary Commission (NBC) led by Oluwafemi Oshinaike, Governor Adeleke expressed his commitment to addressing the situation. He reassured that his administration is diligently working to prevent any escalation of conflicts that could potentially lead to disorder and lawlessness in the region.

The Governor, represented by Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, welcomed the timely visit and acknowledged the commendable efforts of the NBC in addressing the boundary dispute. He stated, “My administration is committed to addressing the development and in doing so, we will not leave any stone unturned.”

Oluwafemi Oshinaike, during a visit to the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, assured that the NBC is dedicated to finding lasting solutions to the boundary disputes within the communities. Oba Akanbi commended the Adeleke administration’s initiatives to prevent the aggravation of the crisis, emphasizing the importance of implementing additional peace initiatives by the NBC.

Tensions have surged once again in several communities in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State, including Ogburo, Papa, Ogun Ajo, Paku, Ejemu, Eleye, and Olola, as the boundary dispute with Oyo State persists.

Governor Adeleke’s plea for peace and collaborative efforts to resolve the longstanding boundary dispute exemplifies a crucial step towards averting potential conflicts and promoting harmony between the affected communities.
