Nigeria Customs Service Unveils Vision for Enhanced Business Environment

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set its sights on streamlining service delivery and bolstering the country’s business landscape. In a gathering with diplomatic representatives, including the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, US and German Ambassadors, as well as delegates from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes and the World Bank in Abuja, Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi unveiled the NCS’s vision.

Adeniyi underscored the NCS’s commitment to harnessing cutting-edge technology to drive efficiency. He outlined forthcoming initiatives such as widespread scanner installations, the integration of data analytics, and the adoption of an inclusive approach to engage stakeholders, ultimately fostering smoother trade operations within the country.

Moreover, Adeniyi stressed that the NCS plans to involve Area Controllers from diverse units to ensure a comprehensive grasp of the Customs Act. He emphasized, “Now that we have a new government and I took over in the middle of this year, we have a lot of explanations to make to all these stakeholders. We are responsible for mass sensitizing awareness of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.”

These proactive measures signal a concerted effort by the NCS to fortify partnerships and embrace modern methodologies, propelling Nigeria towards a more conducive and efficient business environment.
